Our Journey

When Founder Jodi Ova, who spent three years as a music compiler at Heart FM, met Co-Founder Lea Heart at a singing competition in 2014, the stage was set for something special. Jodi aka Jaxee, a COPA-trained musician, was there to help produce an album for the competition’s winner. As they worked together, not only did the music chords flow effortlessly, but so did the harmony between them—sparking more than just creative synergy.

The pair began dating in 2015 and collaborated on several tracks that made their way onto radio and charts worldwide. Despite their success, Jodi felt something was missing and decided to explore her other passion: tech.

In 2016, in their bachelor apartment in Maitland, they conceptualized “Track My Track,” an idea to help artists track their music, which evolved into a bigger vision. Jodi, then just 20, saw how chaotic the music submission process was and imagined a platform that would streamline everything for artists.

They sold their car, used their last savings to patent their idea. This leap of faith gave birth to “Playlist Now,” a platform that launched post-COVID, plugging artists. But life has its twists, and in 2022, they had to pause and regroup.

Now, in 2024, armed with more knowledge and experience, they’ve rebranded to Plugm8—a platform built with heart, soul, and the understanding of what it takes to bring artists, producers, and radio stations together. It’s innovative, it’s needed, and most of all, it’s created by two people who understand the power of music and the importance of being heard.

"After years of working with industry professionals, dedication and time invested, I’m confident this is what the music industry needs, connecting artists and radio stations while providing valuable insights to make music radio-ready" — Jodi Ova
